Tubes made of stainless steel are a very common product form and there exists two basic types: seamless tubes, which are manufactured by hot rolling in a tube mill or via extrusion of billet, and welded tubes and hollow sections, the production of which starts from hot-rolled or cold-rolled coil which is roll-formed to a tubular, square or rectangular shape and then welded. Tolerances can if needed be improved by cold drawing or grinding. Stainless tubes find wide application in the food industry or for transport of corrosive liquids and hot gases.
