Stainless hollow sections in square or rectangular format find prolific use in the building and construction industry but also for machine parts and in transport systems. Such sections are made starting from hot- or cold-finished sheet by cold forming and longitudinal welding. The weld joint is usually finished by grinding or scarfing. In some but not all instances, the finish-welded profiles are annealed and pickled in order to ensure good corrosion resistance (depends on steel grade). The most common surface finish for stainless hollow sections stocked by Tibnor is untreated, i.e. the same as the sheet starting material, usually 1D. However, a considerable number of the items are also available in ground execution which facilitates cleaning when in service.
